General Specs: Fox, Year 1907, 12 Gauge, 7lb 9oz, Chokes F/F , LOP 14 1/8, DAH 2 3/4", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 9716
Here we have a very nice Fox BE with the early, graceful, English scroll style engraving that is still clear, sharp, and more detailed than most other B Grades I have observed. This Fox, sn9716 made in 1907, was produced at a time when the finest Fox guns were made and Ansley H. Fox was still at the helm insisting on the highest quality, even doing the final inspection on most guns himself. TAKE NOTE! THIS GUN IS FACTORY ORIGINAL FINISHES ON ALL METAL AND WOOD AND MATCHES THE FACTORY ORDER CARD PRECISELY. The early bone and charcoal colors show 70% with fading, the Krupp Steel barrels retain 99% deep, dark blue, and the trigger guard has 95% factory charcoal blue. The wood shows most all the original factory finish. Even the forend latch shows most of the original blue. YOU JUST DON’T FIND 115-YEAR-OLD GUNS IN THIS KIND OF CONDITION. Another notable and desirable feature are the 30” number 1 weight Krupp Steel barrels with a reinforced forend lug, built for heavy loads and tight shooting. The bore diameter, chokes, and wall thicknesses are all factory and untouched. We did lengthen the chambers to 2 ¾” and extended the forcing cone tapers to 1 ½” so that you can use modern shells with less felt recoil to you and the wood, and better patterns due to fewer flattened pellets. The internals are highly polished, the factory original butt stock is nicely figured European walnut with good shooting dimensions, and the rib matting and barrels stampings are sharp and clear. The gun is tight on the hinge pin and breech face with the top lever just right of center, shows perfect screws and mechanics, superb wood to metal fit, excellent bores, everything in remarkable condition for a second year Fox gun. We stripped the receiver to the smallest part, cleaned it in our Ultrasonic cleaning device, inspected all parts for integrity, then lubricated and reassembled. We call this a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, and it comes with a 90-day mechanical warranty...a $325 service in our shop. What a great gun to take afield or to the club with your buddies to break some clays this fast-approaching season. If you cherish untouched, original, high-condition guns and don’t mind paying the price to own one, this gun is for you. A great value on a nice Fox. Thanks for looking!
