The Charles Osborne name is well known for quality firearms since the early 1800's.  A Birmingham maker that showed nicer fit and finish than most, and that can be seen in this delightful pre-1920 16 bore when you examine the filing and shaping of the frame and action.  The action is decidedly "round bodied" and the breech balls are nicely shaped; even the triggers have a touch of class.  This gun has been thoroughly updated in our gunsmithing department, including being a VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH 90 DAY WARRANTY, the action and forend iron having been stripped to their smallest parts, Ultrasonic cleaned, all parts inspected for integrity and function, properly lubricated and reassembled.  This is delightful little bird gun at a very good price.  There is nothing that needs to be done to this gun but to take her hunting for your favorite upland birds, or to the club for the vintage clays games that have become so popular.  The barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun with the top lever right of center.  The gun remains in British proof with the original 2 ½” chambers and factory bore diameter well within proof specifications.  I have over 150 fine doubles in my shop, but dollar for dollar, this is the nicest balanced, mechanically excellent small bore we have to offer for under $6000.  Healthy barrels, great stock dimensions with a long length of pull (we can change the stock dimensions to fit your needs within a few days of purchase, including installing a fine leather covered pad if you are a tall shooter), strong ejectors and mechanics, no cracks or repairs to the stock.  A very nice gun indeed.  The British side x side is the epitome of a classic, fine upland gun…the gun that all others from around the world are measured by.  The Brits made few guns in 16ga. so they are not easy to find.  We have 2 ½” 16ga. shells in inventory at all times, and there are other sources as well.  For me, the 16ga. is the best choice for chasing birds.  Like the old saying says, “carries like a twenty, hits like a twelve” and it is literally true.  Why carry a 20ga. gun when this gun weighs less than most 20ga. guns and has greater ballistic characteristics?  Thanks for looking, and don’t miss out on this elegant representation of the British gun trade from their best days of around 1919 vintage.  See below for specifications.
