General Specs: MBrowning, Year 1959, 20 Gauge, 6lbs. 4oz., Chokes IC/LM, LOP 14 5/16", DAH 2 1/4", DAC 1 7/16"
Serial Number: 14157

The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs.  Produced in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped, The Superposed is well known in the upland world here and abroad.   Here we have the venerable Browning Superposed Grade 1 in 20ga. with hard-to-find field chokes.  Most of these guns are found with skeet chokes and are less desirable.  This gun has 26.5" barrels choked IC/LM, the perfect upland gun.  As you compare this gun to others, keep in mind that the most desirable Superposed guns are the SOLID RIB, FIELD CHOKED, LONG TANG, ROUND KNOB guns built before 1966.  This 6lb. 4oz. gun (ABOUT ¼ POUND LIGHTER THAN MOST), sn14157 built in 1959, is all factory original and still retains 98% factory finish on wood and metal…it is an untouched, factory original Browning Superposed Lightning (except M/F chokes were changed to IC/LM)! The stock has the original curved butt with factory butt plate intact measuring 14 ¼” LOP.  The finish is factory original hand-rubbed varnish with the expected field marks but nothing notable.  This is a “VFI CERTIFIED” gun, meaning it has been stripped to its smallest parts, cleaned in our Ultrasonic Cleaner, all parts inspected for function and soundness, lubricated properly, and re-assembled, a $375 service in our shop.  VFI CERTIFIED GUNS have a 90-day mechanical warranty and will need no additional maintenance for years to come.  Most of us know that Guns built after 1966 were prone to salt contamination and rust because Browning cured their stock wood in salt to speed the drying/aging process.  The marketplace still has an aversion to the later guns with short tangs, and some even with square knob pistol grips.  This is a great upland gun that is balanced perfectly 3/16” ahead of the hinge pin and light enough to carry all day afield.  The value of these earlier Superposed guns continues to climb, so you can invest in this gun and enjoy its use as it gains value.  When you combine the high condition, solid rib, long tang, round knob, and desirable field chokes the value of this gun becomes readily apparent.  Priced to sell so don’t let this one get away. THE PERFECT GUN FOR THE UPCOMING UPLAND SEASON.  Thanks for looking!
