John Browning’s Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most prolific designs.  Production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when regular production stopped.   In 1967 Browning introduced the Superposed "SUPERLIGHT" in the 12ga. and finally was born a true upland bird gun.  The Superlight was an instant success amongst upland hunters.  A typical Browning Lightning 12ga. weighed about 7 1/4lbs.  At 6lbs. 9oz. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, this 12 bore Superlight is 3/4lb. lighter!  This is a dynamic upland bird gun, with its straight hand stock, rounded frame, and slim field style forend that can be carried all day without fatigue.  This gun, sn41120 S5 built in 1965, is in excellent condition with 98% factory blue on the metal and only light handling marks in the wood finish.  YOU WILL NOTE THIS GUN CONTRADICTS THE 1967 INTRODUCTION DATE FOR THE BROWNING SUPERLIGHT SHOWN IN THE BROWNING CATALOGS OF THE TIME.  That is because this gun is not labeled as a Browning gun, but a Fabrique Nationale gun made for the European market.  It is the exact same gun as the Browning Superlight introduced to the USA several years later but had IC/IM chokes instead of the Browning IC/M chokes.  IF you hunt pheasants, you will appreciate the longer reach for your second shot this gun provides.  The 26 1/2" barrels have perfect bores and are tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face. The wood is lightly figured with no cracks, excellent checkering, perfect wood to metal fit, about 85% factory varnish with normal field marks, and a 14 1/4" LOP to factory butt plate.   This is not a common gun, especially one found in the same configuration as shipped from the factory with no pad added or choke alterations and still in gorgeous condition.  Highly desired by upland hunters that are in the know, it is rare to even find a nice one for sale.  There are few Over/Under 12ga. shotguns that weigh under 7lbs. let alone a gun at 6 1/2lbs.  This gun will work equally well on the sporting clays course as well.  See below for the specifications of the gun.  THIS IS A PRE-SALT GUN…NO WORRIES!  The Browning Superposed Superlight 12ga. guns have been going up in value in the last few years, so they are a great investment quality gun that will be worth more in the future as you care for it and enjoy its use.  Just in time for the upcoming bird season.  Don’t you deserve the perfect upland, classic over/under this year?  Thanks for looking!
